River Days - Glaze and RAKU Fire
River Days - Glaze and RAKU Fire
Reserve your spot for a Raku firing during River Days. With this glaze and fire experience, you will glaze a piece and watch it fired live on-site! We will be firing a Raku kiln with pieces glazed by YOU. A Raku firing is the fastest kind of firing in pottery. Most firings take around 14 hours, this one will happen while you watch. We will start glazing at the start of your time slot and then transfer your piece to the kiln to start firing after everyone completes glazing. An hour after loading, watch your piece be removed from the kiln screaming hot and placed into a pit of combustible materials, then smothered to create that beautiful Raku effect! Glaze and Fire reservations are limited to 20 people. Bring a friend and make an afternoon of it!
NOTE: These pieces are not food safe. The Raku process is a dynamic firing that can cause epic surfaces and epic fails… We’re here for the experience and can’t guarantee everyone will get a perfect piece from the kiln.
